Double role training camp with Mikael and Saana
Koulutuksen kuvaus
Who is it for?
This course is intended for all double role dancers of Argentine tango. Participation requires solid basic skills as both a leader and a follower.
The final content of the course will be tailored to the skill level and goals of the participants. So everyone is guaranteed both challenges and experiences of success!
Description
In this course we focus on the basic elements of Argentine tango: musicality and moving together in abrazo. How to walk beautifully and musically in a way that the contact with the partner remains pleasant, deep and informative?
We practice a lot of close-embrace dancing. In addition, we pay special attention to the role of the follower in the smooth flow of the couple's internal cooperation. We'll be actively changing both couples and roles at the workshops.
We’ll use simple step patterns that are easy to dance in a milonga, for example small lock steps, stops and goes again. The focus is on the quality of the dance – without forgetting that dancing should also be lots of fun.
Instructors
The course is taught by Mikael Dexlöv (SE) and Saana Kalliokoski.
Mikael is a very experienced dancer and teacher, both in double role and more traditional tango. For example, he has taught at Totally in Tango events and organized the Queer Tango Mini Festival for years in Gothenburg. Currently, Mikael teaches regular weekly classes and weekend courses.
Mikael believes it's important that the teacher can give something to each student. Therefore, he focuses on individual guidance. His motto: tango is not difficult, it's fun!
Saana has extensive experience dancing Argentine tango in both roles. She has taught her own double role groups in Helsinki and Tampere since 2024, and has also been assisting very experienced teachers. She's an Alexander Technique teacher by profession.
Saana’s special interest and core competence are the naturalness of movement, contact between dance partners, communication and presence. The most important thing for her is an equal, safe atmosphere and an approach that values the skills and goals of each learner.
